Dear British Telecom
As much as I enjoyed most of the 1990's, I feel internet connections in great Britain should have moved on, no matter where you live. Even up north.
And talking of freaks...

All I've heard on the radio this morning is guff from various pundits about this pope chap coming to the UK today. I'm not certain why he's so important. He's sheltered child rapists that lead cells of his cult, and the recent revelations that child rape was endemic in the Belgian chapter of this branch of lunacy doesn't seem to have drawn much in the way of response from god's right hand Hitlerite on Earth either.
Come to think of it, why aren't the police involved there? Why aren't these sick, twisted and evil hypocrites being punished for their crimes? Maybe it's because Obersturmfuhrer Ratzenburger is flexing some influence over his cultists in power. Remember, he won't even remove people like them from the church, he just moves them. To fresh pastures, I presume.
We need to stop pretending that religion is important and relevant in the grand scheme of things any more, take their power and influence in politics away, and let those that want to do good in the name of their god do their good (and good they do, too), and then we can all move on as a race.
On the lighter side of things, my guitar's nicer than yours.
And Volbeat are great.

scp with spaces in a remote directory path and a wildcard
It's not as simple as you might think:
scp -r username@hostname:"'/some/annoying/directory path/'*" /destination/
There are other forms of this command on the web, but this is the one that worked for me on FC12, connecting to an SME 7.4 server.

Cheap spaceships!
If you've not tried it, here's your chance:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/8500/
If you've never heard of it, Eve Online is one of the deepest, most complete MMO's out there. It's true sandbox game; the PVE content isn't all that good, however the PVP is amazing. That's not just fighting other players in fleets (which can be hugely entertaining), it's the other things that drive Eve - market trading, manufacturing, drug production, etc. and all of their supported trades. Now add in player politics, large alliances vying for space, using all sorts of underhand tricks both in-game and out of game, and it makes for something really amazing.
Anyway, it's an epic game - try it. There is nothing like it out there, and I doubt there ever will be.
